Burnt out

I think my blood stopped running.

A full week back at work felt like a year. I asked my nearest neighbors to shoot paper wads at me this afternoon and startle me awake.

Got to do a little 'fun stuff' - authorizing an emergency shelter allowance to prevent the eviction of a family, some medical assistance for a woman who sorely needed it, expedited (fast) food stamps for a mother whose husband took off for parts unknown with the contents of their checking account and the car.

To my astonishment, during my absence they went live with a software program that helps organize all the myriad computer websites and inter-agency 'matches' that used to mean checking between 7 different systems and thirty different pages - now all in one! It's GREAT. I'm sure they'll figure out a way to muck it up soon, but right now it's the bomb, no foolin'. (Most of my colleagues don't like it, because it's not the way they've always done it...)

I was amused/frustrated that while I was approved through Feb '09 for full-time family sick leave, by going back, I threw a monkey wrench in the works. I could stay away ALL the time, but I couldn't come back and leave PART of the time. That required new paperwork. That's just so....GUBBMINT.

I really am my title - burnt out. I think I'll go misbehave until Tim gets angry and sends me to my room.

Mama
