Woo-HOO!

We got the PET scan done - after only nine weeks of trying. I feel like we placed in an Olympic relay race.

Only placed, though. Silver medal would be "No cancer anywhere else" and gold medal would be "No cancer at all - just foolin', go on home."

His sugar at bedtime was good - but marginally low, so I set the alarm for 2:00 to check it (because the test was at 8:30 and he wasn't allowed to eat beginning 6 hours before the test). It was 70.

Hmmm. Still considered 'normal' - but too low for folks who've had eight hypoglycemic episodes in 7 weeks, especially since they wouldn't be injecting the radioactive sugars until 8:30+.

Now the question, how MUCH to give him to eat so his sugar would stay above coma levels, but BELOW the 180 it had to be for the test? It felt like "Let's Make A Deal!" - guess the price of the package without going over...or like prunes...are two enough? is three too many?

It wouldn't be so scary if there was some chart - if sugar is x now and you want it to stay above y but below z, administer r carbs. Times Pi. But there isn't.

So I thought I was winging it and I chose door #3, light yogurt. A friend this morning pointed out that God has subtle ways of answering our prayers that don't always occur in a flash of light with the sounding of cymbals.

When he woke at 6, sugar was 90 - perfect.

He had the test - no results yet, but we DID get the test done. This afternoon, pulmonary function test, and then the wait again until somebody tells us what we do next.

Woo-hoo.

Thank you, Lord.
