Dear Friends:

I have arrived home from the hospital and am taking me and my cold to bed, but could not pass the computer without telling you how deeply grateful and joyful I am this night.

I didn't quite realize the depth of my trepidation until Tim opened his eyes and smiled wanly and mouthed "I love you," then answered a few questions with a nod or shake of the head, ending with a brief game of "twenty questions" while he conveyed his message - more blankets, please.

I found myself shaking violently and had to leave to compose myself (there actually should be a separate room - or ward - in hospitals labeled "The Composition Room."

Those tears and tremors, though, were ones of relief. He is not out of the woods yet. But he is still in there, that sharp-eyed, keen-witted guy of mine, and for now, that is sufficient cause for celebration.

All vitals are good. I am going to bed.
